Organizational/Project Context
The project "Emergency assistance to restore agricultural livelihoods of vulnerable households affected by the drought" is a project under FAO Technical Cooperation Programme. This project provides assistance to the Government of Sri Lanka to support the livelihoods of most vulnerable agricultural families by distributing emergency seed packages and micro irrigation units, targeting women farmers. This project also provides capacity development to Extension Officers on simple water management practices that can be implemented by farmers to increase their resilience to future climate variability and climate change.
Job Title : National Consultant (Technical Expert)
Duty Station : Home based
Duration : 5 months
Remuneration : SB 4
- Oversee and coordinate with relevant Government authorities the distribution and monitoring of agricultural input.
- Coordinate the training provided by the Department of Agriculture (DOA) on the use of micro irrigation systems.
- Identify appropriate on-farm water management techniques for small scale farming through desk study and field trips.
- Train extension officers on "On-farm water management techniques for small scale fanning".
